As part of my kitchen renovation in the abandoned building, I wanted something to fit with the concrete countertop in my DIY kitchen island, so I built this diagonal side grain butcher block countertop from hard maple. This is a relatively easy woodworking project. I milled up the maple lumber then glued it up using my Rockler woodworking clamps. Then it was a matter of routing a groove in the countertop, so it fit into the concrete portion. I love how the warmth of the wood ties the whole kitchen renovation together.
