A fire has occurred at a woodworking business at Brookvale.
Just after 12.30pm yesterday (Tuesday, 31 January), emergency services, including Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW), NSW Police and NSW Ambulance, responded to reports of smoke coming from a two-storey industrial premise at Sydenham Road, Brookvale.
FRNSW Dee Why Station arrived at Sydney Woodworkers, a door and window warehouse, to see a stream of white smoke coming from the building. Concerned at the clear presence of smoke and the flammable nature of the contents of the building, they quickly called a second alarm fire to summon more firefighting crews to the scene.
Brigades from Manly, Forestville, Mosman and Neutral Bay Stations responded to Brookvale, along with senior FRNSW commanders, Inspector Jeremy Hood and Superintendent Kel McNamara. Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command also attended to assist with traffic management while NSW Ambulance paramedics remained on scene for firefighter welfare.
